Submitting Claims: Overview

For Transportation, Respite, and Assistive Tech services, after April 1, 2013 providers and vendors should continue to bill as they have previously done . For these services, the billing process has not changed.

For all other Early Intervention services, the billing process has changed as of April 1, 2013.  This date refers not to the date of service, but to the date when the bill is successfully submitted. Services provided before April 1, 2013 that were not billed prior to that date will follow the new billing procedure.

Although it is no longer necessary for the billing provider to submit paper documentation to the municipality for the purpose of claims, providers are still required to generate and maintain all documentation as required by Early Intervention policy, Medicaid, applicable licensing and credentialing bodies, auditors, etc..  However, the documentation does not need to be submitted at the time of claiming for the claim to be processed. This is true for children enrolled in both NYEIS and KIDS.

For children enrolled in both NYEIS and KIDS, bills can be submitted as frequently as the provider wishes.

For NYEIS, the valid claims will be transmitted to the IFA on a weekly or bi-weekly basis.

For children enrolled in KIDS, the claims will only be processed as frequently as the county processes them through KIDS.
