Parent Page: Maximizing My Insurance

To maximize health insurance payments for Early Intervention (EI) services:

• Get a referral from your child’s pediatrician or primary care physician (PCP) for EI services
• Immediately contact your Service Coordinator (SC) to inform them of any changes in your child’s insurance coverage
• If your insurance plan requires authorization to ensure payment for EI services received, encourage your child’s pediatrician/PCP and physical therapist to request it
• Note: While many plans require that authorization be obtained before services are provided, some insurance plans will allow retroactive authorization
