Bureau of Early Intervention Electronic Mailing List Medicaid Sweep Provider Notice
Dear Colleague: The State Fiscal Agent (SFA) is working to increase payment made by third-party insurers including Medicaid. As part of that effort, the SFA identifies children who received EI services with dates of services for which retroactive Medicaid coverage is available. Based on those findings, on Thursday, June 12, 2014, the SFA will perform a “Medicaid Sweep”. This Sweep will recoup payments owed by the Medicaid program for payments made through the escrow account and for which Medicaid coverage is now available.
The impact of this process is that some EI Billing providers may see an increase in Medicaid payments and a corresponding debit in the next escrow payment cycle to their escrow account. Providers should expect this Medicaid Sweep take effect in the 1922 Medicaid payment cycle.
This is the second “Medicaid Sweep” that the SFA has conducted. The first was in the week of December 22, 2013. Going forward, the SFA will be executing this process on an every other month basis.
