For providers that have received the denial CO-22 on Medicaid claims, this means that eMedNY's records indicate that the child is covered by commercial insurance that was not billed before Medicaid.
Providers will need to contact the county or municipality to have them work with the child's service coordinator to make sure the correct insurance information is listed in NYEIS or KIDS.
If the insurance information is
incorrect in NYEIS or KIDS, the service coordinator will need to update the information listed there. If the child is enrolled in NYEIS, the updated insurance information will be reflected on EIBilling.com after our next weekly NYEIS data import. If the child is enrolled in KIDS, the updated information will be reflected on EIBilling.com after the county
uploads a KIDS insurance batch. Providers will be able to see that the correct information is listed on EIBilling.com by checking the "Insurance Policies" tab in that child's
Child Lookup Details.
If the insurance information is
correct in NYEIS or KIDS, the county and service coordinator should work with the local DSS to correct that information in eMedNY.
Once the information has been corrected, providers can use the
Medicaid Claims Needing Attention page to resubmit the claims to Medicaid.
